York Regional Science & Engineering Fair

About Our Fair

The York County Science & Engineering Fair began in 1984 serving schools from York County. In 2016, we added Adams County schools and are working to change our name to reflect our new population. The Fair takes place in March at Penn State York and is run by a group of volunteers. Winners of the senior division of this fair will advance to the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). Through the years, our winners have enjoyed great success at ISEF including 21 place awards and two 1st place awards.

The York Regional Science and Engineering Fair is planned by a committee of local volunteers representing technical and educational organizations for the purpose of providing York County students with an opportunity to expand and increase their expertise in science and engineering. It also provides additional incentive by offering awards, scholarships and an occasion to receive expert evaluation of projects for future science fair participation. We are supported by engineering and science professionals interested in supporting research and scientific work by students.

Ready to Get Down to Science

The YCSEF promotes students doing good science in a safe manner. All students in grades 7-12 from schools in Adams and York Counties may enter this fair.

Full-time students attending school on a full-time basis are eligible to compete. Part-time or postgraduate students are ineligible. Projects entered in the YCSEF junior and senior divisions will compete in one of the categories as determined by the YCSEF Committee. The junior division consists of 7th – 9th grade students. The senior division consists of 10th – 12th grade students.

Projects involving human subjects (IRB) as well as vertebrate animals or biologic hazards (SRC) are subject to additional review and approval prior to begin experimenting. Students should work with their teachers to determine if such review is needed.

The York County Science & Engineering Fair would like to thank the following companies and organizations for their tireless support.
With their commitment, students have an opportunity to share ideas, showcase cutting-edge projects,
and compete annually for awards and scholarships.
